Why I'm building HKSchoolPal
I'm Kanwal. I'm a social scientist, a mom of 2, and I have no technical background at all.
I faced this problem firsthand when I was 7 months pregnant — overwhelmed, staring at untranslated government forms, and lost in contradictory WhatsApp groups trying to find a full-day kindergarten place for my son.
I had a well-informed friend who did all the research for her kids and was generous enough to hold my hand through it. Everyone deserves a Pal like that, and so the idea for HKSchoolPal was born.
Nobody should need an insider just to find a school for their kid. And no family should feel shut out because they don't speak Cantonese or have $200,000 to spend on debentures.
When I discovered AI, I began teaching myself how to build. I built HKSchoolPal to be the honest, transparent friend I wish I had back then.
