Terms of use

HKSchoolPal helps English-speaking families in Hong Kong find and compare schools. It is free to start, and we may introduce paid features or advertising in future. By using the service you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use it.

It is not a consultancy, an admissions service, or a substitute for talking to a school. We do not place children, we do not advise on applications, and we have no relationship with any school we list.

School information comes from the Education Bureau's public registers and profiles, and from what schools publish about themselves.

Where a school has published nothing, we say so rather than estimate.

Fees change, sessions change, and a register can be out of date. Anything that will affect a decision — a fee, a deadline, whether a place exists — should be confirmed with the school in writing before you rely on it. We cannot be responsible for a decision made on a figure that has since moved.

No school has ever paid us and none ever will. Position in a list reflects how well a school matches what you asked for, and nothing else. If we ever show advertising, it will never affect which schools appear or the order they appear in.

Write about your own experience of the school. Do not name individual members of staff — write about the school, not about a person who cannot answer back. Do not post anything you know to be untrue.

Every review is read by a person before it appears. We may edit a review to remove one clause rather than reject the whole experience, we may decline to publish, and we may remove a review later. Schools can reply, and anyone can report a review, including people without an account.

A review is one family's experience. We show no average score until a school has at least three reviews, because a single opinion is not a rating.

Signing in with Google tells us an account exists. It does not prove that a child attends a school, and we never describe a reviewer as verified on that basis.

You keep ownership of what you write, and you give us permission to publish it in the app. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Do not scrape the app or copy its data in bulk, whether by hand or by machine. Do not resell it or pass it off as your own. Do not use it to harass a school, a member of staff, or another family. Do not try to break, overload or work around the app's security.

We work hard to keep the data right and we correct mistakes quickly when we hear about them. But the app is provided as it is: we cannot promise it will always be available, always current, or free of errors.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using the app or relying on something in it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

School data is published by the Education Bureau. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, with background tiles by CARTO. School photographs belong to the schools and the Bureau, and are shown from the Bureau's own servers. Their rights remain theirs.

If you own something shown here and would rather it were not, write to [email protected] and we will take it down while we sort it out.

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the app means accepting the new version.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Hong Kong courts have jurisdiction.
